Day 17 of 29 faces - All these pencils sketches will def be turned into pieces of mixed media art , this challenge has got my sketch book into great use.

Day 10 - 29 faces - mixed media  - The Butterfly

" This unwavering acceptance of her metamorphosis is also symbolic of faith. Here the butterfly beckons us to keep our faith as we undergo transitions in our lives. She understands that our toiling, fretting and anger are useless against the turning tides of nature – she asks us to recognize the same."

There is a Native American legend that says, " If you have a secret wish, capture a butterfly and whisper your wish to it. Since butterflies cannot speak, your secret is ever safe in their keeping. Release the butterfly, and it will carry your wish to the Great Spirit, who alone knows the thoughts of butterflies. By setting the butterfly free, you are helping to restore the balance of nature, and your wish will surely be granted." 

The butterfly is a reminder to make changes when the opportunity arises. Change and transformation are inevitable for us all, but it does not have to be traumatic. Butterfly symbolism is also closely tied to the idea of spirits and souls. It has been used in many religions and cultures. In the western world, the symbol of the butterfly stands for freedom, fun and joyous times. It is also symbolises a state of naturalness and purity.

Day 10 - 29 faces - Friends - Pencil drawing.

This is such good practise and amazing how different every face turn out - have always been 'scared' of drawing faces but love doing them so have decided that they do not have to be perfect but just to have fun and draw ..... draw ...... draw!!!!

Yay!!!!...... weekend so time to do some more art and get creative.

Day 8 of 29 faces - did not get round to posting yesterday but am busy completing this portrait that has been inspired by Amy from Flutterbye - mixed media using watercolour, graphite pencils, pencil crayons, collage.

No 4  of 29 faces.  Inspired by Lynne Hoppe - thank you for the inspiration - (although her work far nicer).

Used caran d'ache watersoluble wax pastels, golden fluid acrylic, and some collage.  Being the weekend had loads more time to play.  This is still wet and needs to be finished off  ..... but hey ho a face.
